Mark, August 2018

Dear Isabelle, Thank you so much, your apartment was amazing. We had a lovely stay in Dubrovnik, and have fallen in love with Croatia, so much so that we would like to bring our family to one of the quieter Croatian islands this summer. Once again thank you for a lovely stay.

Estelle, May 2018

it was a perfect stay, tooo spacious and roomy. We were not expecting such an amazing apartment and that to right in the main square. There was nothing that we could complain about the bed, kitchen, bathroom everything was just perfect. As with all apartments in the old town you need to climb stairs but that is a normal thing with every other apartment in the old town.

Priyang, October 2017

I rarely write reviews but write this one with great pleasure! Walking into our apartment was like walking into our own oasis. Spacious, comfortable and impeccably furnished, this apartment is just a few steps from the central square in the old town. You open your windows and look across at the beautiful stained glass windows of Saint Blaise church. Our host was there to meet us upon arrival with many helpful tips on what to see and do in Dubrovnik. The apartment is surprisingly quiet despite being in the middle of the action. In town for a wedding, we discovered that my girlfriend's curling iron wasn't working. No fear, our gracious host Ana came over and brought us one! I can't recommend this place enough. Promise to keep our little secret?

Omar, August 2017

Beautiful spacious and clean apartment in a fantastic location. Hosts were super helpful and organised transfers from the airport, lots of information given and left in the apartment. Can't fault it.

Emily, June 2017

From the moment Ann's met us with the keys and introduced us to the apartment it was an excellent experience. The building could not be better placed right in the centre. The kitchen is well appointed and the living room great to relax in -particularly when we arrived the Spanish guitar player was outside! JUST one point -the pillows were on the hard side for us.Otherwise excellent!

Nick, May 2017

Dear Isabelle, The apartment was really nice, centrally located, and we very much appreciated that the heating worked as it was still quite chilly particularly at night. Information provided and your service were excellent. Thanks and all the best in the future,

Eeva-Maija, May 2017

I highly recommend, the perfect place!Great location, close to the sights and attractions, restaurants and shops, very clean, spacious, cool climate, well-equipped apartment, comfortable beds, helpful hosts. We will gladly return and recommend.

TripAdvisor review, May 2017

Hi Isabelle, We absolutely loved Dubrovnik! We did all of your suggestions: -Walked around the old town -got the boat to Cavtat -took the cable car -got the boat to Lokrum -walked around Lapad Bay We would love to return in the future. We loved the Croatian people. They were so kind and friendly towards by little boy Alfie. All in all a great stay! Thank you for your fantastic suggestions.

Dominique, October 2016

Absolutely fabulous! The apartment was very spacious and clean. It could not be more central to Dubrovnik.

Hilary, October 2016

These guys went above and beyond in every way - I would stay again in a heartbeat! Felt like locals :)

Hayley, September 2016

Our stay in Dubrovnik was amazing! Ana was a fantastic host that made sure we made it to our apartment with no worries. She is very informative and very sweet. She also made sure if we had any problems she was just a phone call away.

John, August 2016

My wife and I stayed here for three days and couldn't have been more pleased. Ana meet us by the steps of St Blaise Church which is right next to the building that the apartment is located in. It was much bigger than we were expecting and the washing machine was a welcome surprise. The location couldn't have been better with the harbor, many restaurants, and a grocery store all under a minute away.

Trip Advisor review, August 2016

Dear Isabelle, Everything worked fine. Ana was very helpful. All arrangements made worked well, including the airport transfers.  Temperatures were in the low 30's, so the airconditioning was essential. The flat became a haven of coolness in the heat of the day - so a short sleep opportunity in the afternoon was gratefully seized..!!That all helped to make our stay very easy and relaxing..! The windows are double glazed, so very quiet inside when the windows closed. Thank you!

David, July 2016

Your very own hideaway in Dubrovnik. My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at Secret Apartments on our Honeymoon. There was something so authentic about wandering the streets of Dubrovnik and having a private perch in the center of the city to come home to. The classical music performances in the square below provided the perfect soundtrack to round out a romantic and unforgettable experience.

TripAdvisor review, June 2016

Hello Isabelle, We sincerely hope to be able to return to you wonderfull appartment in some years. We surely will promote your appartment to all our friends. Thank you for all.

Annemie, June 2016

Great location in the centre of the old city. The building has been carefully restored and nicely furnished. Lots of buzz around outside but a quiet place to come back to. Ana who met us to give us the keys and the local info was very helpful.

Tricia, April 2016

Will probably not better than this in Dubrovnik. The apartment is really nice and the location could not be better. We got very good help of Anna and also help with downloading to the airport by car.

Sven, April 2016

It was super good and enjoyable! Thank you so much it was absolutely great. Our appartement number 1 was large, enough light and charming stile, clean and shiny. We enjoyed to have a break in the room and continue our town trip afterwards. It was so central. The double bed was good quality. It was just a bit noisy from the back side but thats maybe the price for staying in the center. Directly under the app. are some nice restaurants. You hear the clocks of the church in the morning , which i loved:) somehow i felt like a princess in this sourrounding. There is even enough space to make yoga in the space. The tranfer was clearly organized , very friendly people. We could really trust and got useful information about the town, taxi in time :). Free wifi- If we go to Dubrovnik again, we know where to sleep ! Thank you so much.

Heide, March 2016

There are essentially two Dubrovniks. One is the area outside the city walls that includes the high end resorts and I think most of the apartments available for rent. The other is inside the walls which is a different world. My interest in Dubrovnik was the historical city and not the admitted pleasures of the Adriatic you can find at the resorts. Also as a Game of Thrones aficionado being inside the walls was important. Besides we were here in October and it was a bit late for swimming and sun bathing. My travel agent found Secret Apartment # 1 which was on the second floor of the building. The apartments are located just about exactly where anyone would want to be in Dubrovnik - within a stone's throw of the large square at the end of the Stradun, the main street in Dubrovnik. The reason for the name, I suspect, is that there is a nondescript door in the middle of a an outdoor cafe that you wouldn't really notice otherwise. Inside it's two stair climbs to #1, less than the other two. For the price the apartment is huge, pretty well equipped and has a view of St. Blaise' church across the street. Others have mentioned the fabulous classical guitarist who is just below playing for the patrons of the cafe. When I first heard him I thought someone was playing a John Williams' recording, the guy is that good. It's a really adds a magic touch to this place. The best thing about staying here is that after the day trippers leave and before they arrive in the morning, Dubrovnik is simply wonderful. Getting up in the morning and wandering the deserted Stradun and the alleys that run off it you get a much better sense of the place - and a chance for great photographs. Also you can easily be first in line to walk the walls at 8:30. We spent three nights here and would recommend it without reservations to anyone.

Trip Advisor review, October 2015

Excellent location and fantastic property. Loved it! Great location in the center of town, friendly & helpful staff (Viktor was great to work with!), spacious, clean, and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay and wish we had more time. The location cannot be beaten as it is in the center of everything and does not require carrying your bags throughout town which is loaded with stairs. One minor detail to be aware of is that while the property is in the middle of everything you get a bit of noise from the restaurants below which is to be expected. The noise drops off and eventually disappears when it's time for bed so for us it was not an issue plus the property has high quality insulated windows that block the majority of the noise. Added bonus, we were serenaded by the live guitar/violins of the restaurant below which further added to the lovely ambiance. Seriously loved every detail of our stay here!!

Hannah, August 2015

Dear Isabelle and Victor, we enjoyed our stay very much. The Secret I apartment is in a fantastic location with clean and comfortable bed and facilities. Modern decor and great sofa to relax on. Air-conditioning was fantastic with the heat and humidity. All information provided was great. Ana was great at receiving us and made us feel very welcome. As it was our first time to Dubrovnik it was easy to find our way with directions you provided and check in was relatively easy. As email was our only source of communication coming to Dubrovnik I found you very responsive and helpful and had no issues. Thank you for your hospitality while in Dubrovnik. We had a fantastic memorable time. It was also Rebecca's 30th birthday which made it even more special for us. Thank you.

Michael, August 2015

The location was excellent. Viktor was very welcoming and recommended wonderful places to visit! Would recommend and come again with pleasure.

Iona, August 2015

Right in the middle of old town with easy access to restaurants and all the sights of Dubrovnik. Only down side were the four flights of steps to get to the top floor where our apartment was but it was great exercise and assisted our fitness levels. The apartment was amazing with great views of Dubrovnik. It was very clean with all the requirements. Rooms were very generous in size and bedding very comfortable. Great Airconditioning to provide a very comfortable stay. Would certainly stay there if next in Dubrovnik

Trip Advisor review, July 2015

Plenty of room to kick back and relax after exploring Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas. Very clean and quiet with a great location in the middle of it all.

Geoff, May 2015

Great location, Great hosts , Great apartment,  Highly recommended.

Marc and Anna, May 2015

We found The Secret Apartments by other reviews on Tripadvisor and so thankful. We stayed in Secret 1 and thought it was brilliant. It was very clean, well equipped and so central within the Walls of the Old Town. It was within easy walking distance of everything we needed and a bonus there were no steps to it like many of the other apartments within the Walls. Viktor and Isabelle were so friendly, just like friends, rather than business acquaintances. They replied to emails straight away and were very helpful in arranging Airport transfers for us which were also excellent. Their recommendations of places to visit/eat were well received. Thank you for a great time

Trip Advisor review, October 2014

Hi Isabelle and Viktor We have arrived back in the UK and wanted to say what a fabulous time we have had in Dubrovnik, we loved the place. The Secret I apartment was lovely and well placed for all the amenities. Hope to be in contact in the future for another well deserved break.

Jan, October 2014

We loved the location, steps away from the Stradun and all the old town's attractions, hundreds of restaurants and shops. The Secret I apartment was lovely and much larger than expected .A real treat was the jazz guitarist playing below the windows early evening.

Susan, October 2014

Dear Isabelle and Viktor, We would like to thank you both for looking after us so well. Everything was very organised and we feel very happy in recommending you to our friends. The Secret apartment was excellent and the location couldn't have been better. Thank You!

Val and Carolina, September 2014

Fantastic location, excellent accommodation and lovely staff who were contactable 24/7 and who really wanted to add value.

Janet, September 2014

Hello Viktor, Unfortunately our time here in your beautiful city has come to an end. We very much appreciated staying in your lovely apartment, so central to everything. Many thanks again, hope we can make it back one day.

Maria and Rob., August 2014

Stayed in Secret apartment 1 for the first three nights of our honeymoon and I couldn't have wished for a better location, facilities or ambience. Just love it! The photos looked great but we were slightly overwhelmed when Vicktor showed us around. He was very friendly, funny and a right treat! Will definitely be returning when we're next in Dubrovnik. It's just an all round picture perfect winner in a cracking location. There's even an acoustic guitarist on the steps outside to top it off!

Trip Advisor review, August 2014

Fantastic location in heart of Old City. HUGE well furnished apartment. So nice to have a kitchen for breakfasts, though we ate out other meals. Powerful A/C was much appreciated. Very helpful "What To See & Do" booklet from owners.

Holly, July 2014

We have had a sensational time here and the Secret I apartment was perfect in every way. Our next Croatia stops are Split, Zagreb and Opatija. This certainly started our trip off with a bang!

Donna, July 2014

Dear Isabelle, Thank you so much for your kind attention and Viktor attention.!! Everything was perfect, the apartment so nice, your indications, etc. Thank you!

Maria, June 2014

Secret Apt. #1 is very spacious, has everything you need for your stay; the photos are accurate. Location is excellent, right in the old city. Bonus guitar player sings every evening on the steps of the neighboring church -- quite lovely! You'll want to close your windows to sleep as the cafes on the street go late, but it's not an issue. Viktor and Isabelle are very accommodating and full of information on anything you need. It's nice to have the space of an apartment to spread out a bit and relax.

Trip Advisor, June 2014

Like Walking into a Dream
The large white room, high ceilings, the curtains fluttering in the breeze, the rose damask covered sofa and chairs, the white table and then into the large bedroom and modern bath. All of this beside St. Blaise Cathedral where every evening a guitarist played the classics and standards for three hours. So good, we bought a CD. An excellent restaurant on the first floor, though a quiet one. The open air fruit, vegetable and flower market is just around the corner. A convenience store in the same plaza. In the other direction the town's promenade lined with cafes and stores, to see and be seen. Isabelle and Viktor are gracious, charming and informative hosts. So many ideas of what to do and see we should have stayed longer. Dubrovnik was a great experience, made wonderful by the apartment and hosts.

Trip Advisor review, May 2014

First time in Dubrovnik and we were very lucky to choose The Secret Apartments. They contacted us by email before we arrived to check arrival time and sent an SMS once we had landed confirming we'd be met by them once we arrived in Dubrovnik. We were met by Viktor who was really helpful and gave us tips and advice for places to eat and visit and started our 3 day visit with great service. The apartment was large with high ceilings a functional kitchen, which we did not use as there are so many places to eat but there is a open air market and supermarket 30 yards away if you wanted to make use of it. The rooms were large with windows opening onto the street at the front with the church opposite so quite private. The bed was nice and comfy and it had a bath and shower. I would highly recommend the apartment for couples on a weekend break, you could probably sleep more, maybe there was a sofa bed but we did not check.

Trip Advisor review, May 2014

Dear Isabelle and Viktor, I wanted you personally to know how much we enjoyed Secret I apartment, but especially you.  Amicalement

Townsend, May 2014

We stayed in the 2nd floor apartment pictured, with the floral lounge suite and white furniture. It is an apartment for two, with a comfortable double bed, modern bathroom with bath and shower, a compact but workable kitchen and huge windows that open onto an alley leading to the main plaza at the end of the Placa, opposite the church of St Blaize. It is very well equipped and very comfortable, although it is a little noisy as it is in the centre of everything with the hustle and bustle of restaurants below and the church bells ringing regularly. However there is a classical guitarist who plays outside every night when things become quieter and the cruise ship tourists have disappeared and the music will fill the apartment which is absolutely lovely. We were dropped off at the gate at the opposite end of the Placa (not the port end) and it was a flat level 2 mins walk to the apartment (there is a ramp at the gate), then 2 flights of stairs within the apartment. Our stay in Dubrovnik was wonderful. Everything was in easy walking distance, including a couple of supermarkets and a small daily farmers market in the square behind the apartment. Dubrovnik is certainly an interesting destination, with a long history, and the apartments are the perfect place to experience it all.

Trip Advisor review, April 2014

We could not have found a better location and the Secret apartment was one of our favorites during our travels this year.  Being picked up at the airport and taken to the Old Town to be greeted by Victor was very much appreciated after travelling several hours to get there.  Victor was very helpful in providing suggestions on where to go - and when to go to avoid the crowds!  The apartment was very spacious, the bed comfortable and the bonus was the classical guitar player outside of our window each night playing for the restaurant below.  Booking was a breeze and we appreciated the quick response to any of our questions.  We have already recommended this place to friends!

Carolyn, October 2013

“The perfect place from which to explore Dubrovnik, right in the heart of town. Both comfortable and elegant, this well-equipped apartment -Secret 1-was even nicer than we expected from the other good reviews we read”.

Tripadvisor review, October 2013

Secret I exceeded our expectations, so it would definitely be our first choice when returning to Dubrovnik. I couldn't believe how spacious it was, and I loved the high ceilings. The location next to St Blaise Church in Old Town was absolutely perfect. It was very hot during our stay, so it was nice to be able to quickly pop back in the apartment due to its central location. My favourite thing about the apartment was that a man would play acoustic guitar at the restaurant below from 6pm. It was so relaxing that I would fall asleep. Viktor was also great - he carried our suitcases up the stairs (there were no elevators) and all of his recommendations for places to eat were excellent!”

Tripadvisor review, August 2013

"I could write about how unexpectedly big the apartment is or how well it's decked out. I could talk about how friendly and helpful Viktor, the guy we dealt with, is. I could tell you that Dubrovnik is a stunning city that you have to visit... but you probably knew that. The real highlight, however, is that the location of the apartment (Secret Apartment I) is as good as I could ever imagine holidaying in. It's not just a highlight; it's phenomenal. Located 10m across a narrow street from St. Blaise Church, we were staying in the very heart of Dubrovnik. This permitted us to recover from unusually high temperatures (and, correspondingly, an unusually tempestuous storm) whenever it suited. As self-catering accommodation we were able to come and go as we please, stocking up on fresh produce from the open-air morning market around the corner and essentials from a nearby supermarket. Most importantly, we didn't lose any time travelling to and from one of the many hotels outside of the city walls. For one thing, this allowed us to spring out of bed and walk around the perimeter first thing in the morning... well before the hoards came in, so very much recommended! Whilst a hotel experience undoubtedly holds its own attractions, we couldn't imagine going back anywhere else when we do inevitably return to Dubrovnik."

Tripadvisor review, August 2013

“We have just returned from a weeks stay in Dubrovnik in Secrets 1 apartment. We booked our holiday in Dubrovnik because we were getting married there & our wedding planner put us in touch with Isabelle and Viktor as we told her we wanted to look at some apartments. We wanted somewhere central as we had guests staying all over Dubrovnik so by being in the old town we could be in the middle of everyone. Instantly Isabelle was agreat help, she suggested the different apartments available that suited our needs and their website was easy to use to look at the different apartments. Booking was easy with just one form and deposit easily paid with Isabelle ringing you when it was convenient for you. After that any questions we had were easily answered by a quick email. On arrival at the airport we had the taxi transfer which was quick, easy and comfortable & with our mound of wedding stuff much appreciated. At the old town we were met by Viktor who took us to the apartment involving a walk through the old town which can only be described as amazing. The apartment was about 50m away from The Rectors Palace where we were getting married and smack in the middle of the old town. We then got to the apartment which can only be described as beautiful!!! It was much much bigger than all the pictures let on & just generally more amazing then we could wish for. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to be staying then. After that Viktor went through a map with us, gave us suggestions of restaurants, and organised a return transfer for the end of the week. He also reassured us he was on the phone if we needed him, to which we were then left to our own devices. Everyone who came to visit us in secrets fell in love with it, it was for 2 people but is extremely spacious & we now have some of the most beautiful wedding photos thanks to it generally being a beautiful space. Can't wait to get back there!!!!!”

Tripadvisor review, August 2013

“We thoroughly enjoyed staying in  Secret I apartment which was extremely comfortable and very well situated.

Lynne, May 2013

“My husband and I stayed in Secret 1. It was faultless in every respect. The apartment was light and airy and overlooked the Stradun and the square. The restaurant below had a classical guitarist playing every evening and there was also a classical quartet playing during the course of the week. It was heavenly lying in bed listening to the sound from the street which thankfully didnt include traffic as there are no vehicles allowed in the old town. For those of you who prefer quiet, dont worry, the double glazing blocks out the noise if you wish. The apartment had excellent facilities and was up one flight of stairs. Not too bad for a couple of middleaged people. We were met by Viktor at Ploce Gate when we arrived and he showed us the apartment and provided very useful advise about places to visit. Dubrovnik itself is a haven, so clean and quiet and not yet frequented by lots of stag and hen parties (though I did see a couple of groups who were very well behaved). Places to eat were numerous and varied. Be methodical when looking through the old town, I like local art work and those shops are hidden up the side streets off the Stradun which mainly caters for the cruise ships who descend every day. There was anything about Croatia that we didnt love. I would recommend a visit for those people who like a civilised, quiet holiday with as much or as little culture as you would wish to sample. Its not a party place (a bonus for me) but it is restful and a tranquil oasis to recharge and soak up the lovely weather, food and people”

Carol, May 2013

Just a quick thank you to both you and Viktor. We had a very enjoyable stay and the Secrets I apartment was really lovely.Thank you for your advice and attention. We will recommend you to our friends! “

Sharon and Tim, October 2012

Eric and I are sad to leave tomorrow evening- we've had such a wonderful time in Croatia, especially in Dubrovnik. Thanks so much!

Emily, October 2012

My Husband and I stayed in the Secret I apartment during our stay, I chose it off the reviews that had been posted as I find it invaluable to read reviews when searching for anything. Secret I did not disappoint. Situated minutes from the gate entrance and practically round the corner at the end of the Stradum this apartment is perfectly placed within the old city. It is right next to St Blaise Church and not far from the clock tower however I cannot stress enough that the church bells or clock tower chimes are in no way annoying, they never disturbed us once. The apartment looks over the side street and there are restaurants directly below, in fact if you are staying in the Old City you are likely to be looking over the side streets with bars and restaurants, unless you are prepared to stay in the part of the old city where the apartments are at the top of very steep steps. Where Secret I is situated is perfect as all the restaurants bars around it shut after 11.30 and any musicians playing are finished after this time. Also the apartment has double glazed windows which shut out a lot of the noise and the air conditioning in the apartment is quiet and efficient which means you can have it on all night and not be disturbed, which is ideal in the heat!! The apartment itself is lovely and airy with a real feeling of space, perfect for a couple. Everywhere is clean and the bed most comfortable. The bathroom is modern my only niggle is the Shower head is placed wrongly at the side of the bath it does need to be at the end and the bracket sorted, but honestly is wasn't a problem we just had a bath everynight instead. There is plenty of instant hot water which is excellent. As for Dubrovnik what a wonderful city. Viktor met us at the city gates after organising a Taxi to pick us up from the airport this was wonderful especially as we had never been to Croatia before, Viktor was most helpful in advising us where to go and what to see and was at the end of a phone for any problems or simply to answer any questions.
For anyone wanting to go to the beach I advise you take wet shoes with you for your feet as the beach is pebbly and going across to the island there were no sandy beaches just a wonderful rocky coastline where there are steps into the sea..........a must for anyone. Can't thank you Viktor and Isabelle enough for a wonderful apartment which made our holiday so special.................I would recommend Secret I to anyone staying in Dubrovnik-

TripAdvisor review, September 2012

This was our second stay at Secret 1 apartment and we cannot recommend it highly enough. The description on the Butterfly website is very accurate but maybe the photos do not do it justice - it is very light and spacious and feels very peaceful. The location is marvellous and the double glazed windows mean the hustle and bustle of the Old Town can be shut out as and when you prefer. However, you will want to have the windows wide open from around 7pm when you will hear the sound of classical guitar being played on the steps of the church below the apartment......Dubrovnik has something for everyone, there is so much to see and do and Viktor will share his knowledge of the area and is very helpful. We walked the city wall, swam on Lokrum island, went to a classical concert at Rectors Palace and had a day trip to Sipan one of the Elaphite islands, which is truly lovely. A ride in the cable car is a must for breathtaking views. There is plenty more and that is why we will be back.

TripAdvisor review, September 2012

” What a really super holiday we had in Dubrovnik! Over the years we have traveled frequently, this past Holiday was one the most special ever – it was by far the best visit to Europe. The Secret is an amazing property and with your warm special personalities it makes one stay even more amazing! We must keep in touch, it was lovely to meet you all and spend time together, these moments are what makes the best memories!”
